A woman was killed and a man was injured Sunday in a fire at a Bartow County mobile home, officials said.

Crews found heavy fire when they got to the residence in the 40 block of Walnut Trail around 8 a.m., according to Bartow County fire Chief Dwayne Jamison.

“An elderly female was unable to escape the fire and was found deceased,” he said. “A male subject at the residence sustained burns and smoke inhalation attempting to rescue her prior to the fire department arriving.”

He was taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital, but his condition was not provided.

The woman’s name was not released.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.

“The home was a total loss,” Jamison said.
