The semitruck was turning left onto I-85 when it hit the motorcycle, according to South Fulton police.

A woman on a motorcycle was killed in South Fulton on Sunday night after running a red light, Channel 2 Action News reported.

A South Fulton police officer at the scene told the news station the woman was speeding when she ran the light on Flat Shoals Road near the entrance ramp to I-85.

She was hit by a semitruck turning left onto the interstate. The 18-wheeler had the right of way, the officer told Channel 2.

The motorcyclist’s helmet was not found at the scene, leading investigators to believe she was not wearing one. An off-duty firefighter saw the crash and was the first to try to help, Channel 2 reported.

The 25-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was ultimately pronounced dead at a hospital.

The intersection was shut down for several hours Sunday night while authorities investigated, according to the news station.
