A high school softball player says she might have scars on her face for the rest of her life after someone threw a rock at her while she was swimming at a Douglas County hotel, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Megan Ekart, 16, pitches for the Silver Creek High School softball team in Sellersburg, Indiana. The sophomore and her team had just won a game at the Atlanta Legacy Showcase tournament Saturday, Channel 2 reported.

The teammates decided to head to the pool at the Comfort Inn in Douglasville to celebrate. However, their fun was quickly soured.

"Someone threw a rock over the fence of the hotel and it hit me in the head,” she told Channel 2. “I felt something hit me and I blacked out and realized I was underwater.”

Ekart fell into the pool after she was hit. She told Channel 2 some of her teammates pulled her out of the water.

“I was having a hard time seeing because I had blood in my eyes,” Ekart said.

The teen was taken to the hospital and had to have 17 stitches in her head.

"I don’t understand what makes that enjoyable for someone to throw a rock and ruin someone’s life," Ekart said.

Douglasville police told Channel 2 there is surveillance video and they're reviewing it for leads.

Diane Mullinax works at a hotel next to the Comfort Inn. She said she saw four guys running from the pool area into a room.

“I pulled the portfolios of the people in the room and gave the detective that information,” she said.

According to police, the suspects were in town for a different sports tournament. No one is in custody in connection with the incident.
