A state trooper was involved in a chase that ended with a two-vehicle rollover crash this afternoon in Hall County.

The incident occurred after a Georgia State Patrol officer attempted to pull over a maroon Chevy S10 for failing to yield, according to the GSP. The vehicle sped away to avoid being pulled over, and the trooper followed in pursuit.

The chase ended around 4 p.m. when the trooper used a pit maneuver at Hubert Stephens Road, which resulted in both cars being flipped. The suspect fled the scene on foot, but was later found. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as William Matthew Hulsey, 19, of Gainesville.

Hulsey is in the Hall County Jail on 15 charges, including fleeing and eluding and DUI. Bond has been set at $19,900, sheriff’s spokeswoman Dep. Nicole Bailes told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The trooper is being assessed for non-life-threatening injuries at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the GSP said.
