A Bartow County man was taken into custody today on several charges including aggravated child molestation and statutory rape.

Matthew Mastrom, 30, a resident of White, Georgia was arrested as a result of his relationship with a runaway minor from North Carolina, according to the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.

Mastrom reportedly picked up the juvenile in North Carolina and the two returned to Georgia where they engaged in a sexual relationship. North Carolina law enforcement made contact with Bartow police and informed them of the possible location of the minor.

Contact was made with Mastrom, who police say was at the specified residence, after which he admitted the minor was present at his home.

Mastrom is being charged with interference with child custody, two counts of aggravated child molestation, seven counts of child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a child for indecent purposes and obstruction of an officer.
