An arrest warrant has been issued for the Fulton County sheriff’s deputy accused of groping women while on duty at the courthouse, the county’s district attorney said today.

The grand jury indicted Nakia Dorsey, 38, on five charges Friday, including two counts each of false imprisonment and sexual battery and one charge of simple battery, DA Paul Howard’s office said.

Dorsey is accused in two separate incidents at the Fulton County courthouse, the most recent of which was May 30, 2012, Howard said. The indictment alleges that Dorsey escorted a 27-year-old woman involved in a court case to a private office in the courthouse, Howard’s office said in an emailed statement.

“Once inside the room, the woman was fondled and, as alleged in the indictment, Deputy Dorsey exposed himself to the victim,” Howard said.

Dorsey then allegedly blocked the door to prevent the woman from leaving. When the woman was able to leave, she reported the incident to the sheriff’s office, who contacted Atlanta police.

An Atlanta police investigation uncovered a prior incident that happened on Oct. 3, 2011, Howard said. In that alleged incident, Dorsey took a 20-year-old woman, who was also in court, to a private office, where he allegedly detained and fondled her.

Dorsey, a six-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, Howard said. A grand jury warrant has been issued for his arrest, but he had not been booked into jail as of late tonight.

The case will be assigned to a Fulton County Superior Court judge and scheduled for trial.
