For former Atlanta police officer Joshua Sieck, a three-year jail sentence has gotten a bit more convenient.

Sieck’s weekend jail stint was moved to Fannin County, which is closer to his home, Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday.

The fired officer had been spending weekends in jail for the past year in Fulton County as part of his sentencing in Jackie Culp’s death.

In July 2012, Sieck's cruiser crashed into Culp's car at the intersection of Fairburn and Cascade roads as he was heading to a call, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Culp died two days after the crash.

Sieck was fired two days after the incident and was convicted of homicide by vehicle, reckless driving and speeding in September 2015.

A man who's wife was killed when an APD officer crashed into her wants to know who authorized him to be moved from the Fulton County jail to the Fannin County jail, which is closer to his home. I'm working to find answers. I'll be on at 4:15. @wsbtv

He was sentenced to 10 years with three to serve, according to Channel 2. Two of those years would be served in jail on weekends and the last year would be served out of jail, but Sieck would have to wear an ankle monitor.

Ralph Culp Jr. told Channel 2 the sentencing was already an insult to his wife’s memory and is mystified by the change in location, which he referred to as “special treatment.”

“He did the crime here,” Culp said. “We don't get to move away from our situation.”

Culp said no one told him about Sieck’s move.

The question of why Sieck was moved remains unknown. According to Channel 2, authorities at the Fannin and Fulton county jails don’t know who authorized the move or why.

“That's the No. 1 thing I want to know right there,” Culp said. “I have a right as a victim to know his whereabouts.”
