A man died after the truck he was driving left the roadway and slid into a ditch in Forsyth County, authorities said.

James Carl Barnes, 62, was killed in the single-vehicle wreck while driving a 2006 Mack truck on Friday, according to Forsyth sheriff’s spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater.

Barnes was traveling north on Ga. 9 near Glover Drive just after 3 p.m. when his truck went off the right side of the road, Rainwater said. It veered left across the roadway before landing on its passenger side in a ditch, he said.

A traffic investigator pronounced Barnes dead at the scene of the crash. The incident is still under investigation.
