Roswell police arrested a driver they said is responsible for a rear-end crash Sunday night that ended up knocking down a power pole and shutting down Woodstock Road for much of Monday.
After the initial crash, the driver veered into a power pole, knocking it over, police said in a news release. The driver then left his vehicle and ran away.
Authorities said the driver, whose name has not been released, was found later and taken to the hospital. He had not been officially charged as of Monday night.
A vehicle also became entangled in the fallen power lines as police were responding to the incident, authorities said. Georgia Power and Cobb County EMC responded and managed to release the trapped vehicle.
The two companies were working Monday afternoon on repairs, and the roadway opened again about 7:45 p.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
