A distinct red hoodie could help Atlanta police find two suspects in an armed robbery that left a store clerk with at least one gunshot wound.
Surveillance video shows the two men dashed inside Donnelly Food Store on Tuesday night and held employees and customers at gunpoint.
The gunman, donning a red hoodie with gold lettering on the front and a gold cross on the back, aimed the gun at a store clerk as an accomplice jumped behind the counter and demanded cash.
At one point in the video, the unarmed suspect grabbed the clerk’s phone in what looks like an attempt to keep her from calling police or recording the incident.
Just as the suspects grabbed the money, a second clerk came from behind the counter and possibly startled the gunman, who opened fire and hit the employee in the chest at least once, police said.
He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he remained in critical, but stable, condition, police said. His name has not been released.
“The violence used in this robbery is very compelling,” Atlanta police Sgt. Anthony Gentile said. “The other clerk could’ve easily been shot.”
Police say the two men ran out of the store with an unknown amount of cash.
In addition to the hoodie, police say the gunman, who was between 5-foot-9 and 5-11, was also wearing gray, blue and white shoes, jeans and a skull mask. He had a black .45 caliber pistol with an accessory rail frame. The gunman also has a tattoo on his right wrist.
His accomplice is described as being between 5-5 and 5-7 and wearing a burgundy hoodie, black shoes, black and gray camouflage-pattern shorts, burgundy and white Nike brand gloves, a black bucket hat and a black and gray backpack. Police said a black T-shirt was covering his face.
