Decatur police are investigating after a body of a woman was found behind a downtown office building late Saturday night, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The station said a person spotted the woman’s body after leaving a nearby parking deck behind One Decatur Town Center.
“Witnesses contacted us and said they drove by and saw someone on the ground,” Sgt. Jennifer Ross with the Decatur Police Department told Channel 2.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the case. The body was found near the corner of Ponce De Leon and Church Street.
Police say the woman appears to have been shot to death. Law enforcement is treating the case as a murder. No suspects have been identified.
