A barn fire early Friday killed 17 cows in east Hall County, according to the county fire department.

Firefighters were called around 5 a.m. to the 3900 block of P Davidson Road, Division Chief Zachary Brackett said. The barn, which was 20 feet by 50 feet, was 75% involved when firefighters arrived.

The fire killed 17 cattle, Brackett said, but an unknown number of cows were saved. No human injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
