Authorities have identified two bodies found inside a house in Rome on Friday afternoon.

James Steven Reeves, 69, and Myra Wilson Reeves, 71, were found dead around 3 p.m. at their home on Terhune Road, according to police.

Floyd County police verified Friday that the couple were shot to death. Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson told the Rome News-Tribune that the couple had died as a result of homicide, but he did not release the cause of death. They were taken to the GBI crime lab Saturday for autopsies, according to the newspaper.

Floyd County Police spokesman Jerome Poole said the investigation is ongoing.
