Two women received severe injuries late Saturday night after a car plowed into them as they sat on a brick wall, according to Atlanta police.

Officers responded to the incident just before midnight in the 800 block of Peeples St., where Adrienne Smith and Brianna Johnson were found injured after being dragged up a small bank by a white 2012 Ford Edge.

The vehicle is suspected to be stolen from an Avis rental lot, police said.

The women were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Smith, who was pinned under the vehicle, is in critical condition from a partially severed left leg below the knee and Johnson suffered a broken pelvis, according to police.

The vehicle was attempting to turn when it left the road and struck the women, dragging them up a small bank, damaging a brick wall and hitting a chain-link fence.

The driver, who police only identify as a black male, ran from the scene and has not been located.
