Cops: Minivan driver strikes and kills pedestrian in Marietta

A person driving a minivan lost control and struck and killed a pedestrian in Marietta on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The minivan was travelling northbound on Franklin Road, and for reasons unknown at this time, the driver lost control and left the roadway, striking a man who was walking on the sidewalk, according to police spokesman Officer David Baldwin. The minivan continued through a fence and down an embankment, he said

The pedestrian, who authorities have not identified, was transported to Kennestone Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Baldwin said.

The minivan driver was transported to Kennestone Hospital where his or her condition is unknown, Baldwin said.
