A woman and her son were found dead Friday in a house fire in Middle Georgia.

And the woman’s husband, who was considered a suspect in their deaths, was later found in his truck with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, authorities said.

Monroe County Emergency Services responded to the fire on Joe Chambers Road around 7:30 a.m. As firefighters were battling the blaze and recovering the bodies of 52-year-old Alicia Taylor and 23-year-old Colton Charles King, the county sheriff’s office received a call about a possible homicide at the home, according to spokeswoman Anna Lewis.

Authorities did not say if the two were dead before the fire was allegedly set or how they died.

The search then began for Taylor’s husband, 68-year-old Michael Taylor of Forsyth, and his truck. He was eventually found in the small town of Flovilla, located in Butts County. It is believed Taylor shot himself inside the truck.

All three bodies will be sent to the GBI’s Crime Lab for positive identification, Lewis said.

The investigation continues.
