Woman arrested after fight near Atlanta University Center turns deadly

A deadly shooting near the Atlanta University Center Tuesday afternoon started as an argument between two women, authorities said.

Atlanta police officers called to the shooting the 900 block of Sells Avenue about 1:15 p.m. found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police spokesman James White.  She did not survive her injuries.

The victim was identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office as 20-year-old Ricaya Pace. Police told Channel 2 Action News that Pace may have also been stabbed.

Authorities detained three people for questioning, including 27-year-old Tyra Ealey, who was later arrested and charged with felony murder, police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said. The other two were released without charges.

Officers blocked roads in the area while detectives investigated and Sells Avenue reopened just before 4 p.m.

Ealey, who is from Atlanta, was booked into the Fulton County Jail. Her bond has not been determined.
