A UPS truck was hit by a train Friday afternoon in south Fulton County, authorities said.
The truck and CSX train collided at the crossing on Roosevelt Highway at Washington Road, South Fulton police Lt. Derrick Rogers said.
Investigators said it appears the UPS truck driver attempted to cross the tracks before the wreck. Channel 2 Action News reported that the truck was pushed about 300 yards after impact.
The truck driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, Rogers said.
A UPS spokesman said the company’s primary concern is the well-being of their employee.
“We are very concerned for our employee and are staying close to him while he receives medical attention,” spokesman Dean Foust said in a statement. “The safety of our people is our highest priority, and we are cooperating with the responding authorities.”
Channel 2 reported that the man is expected to recover.
A CSX spokesperson said there were no reported injuries among the crew on the train. None of the freight spilled or leaked as a result of the crash.
Another incident involving a train is affecting travel Friday in metro Atlanta.
A woman was hit and killed by a MARTA train at the North Avenue station. A bus bridge has been set up to allow Red line passengers to get from Peachtree Center and Arts Center stations.
