Man critically injured in double shooting outside Lowe’s store in East Point

Sept 23, 2019

Police are investigating after two people were shot in the parking lot of an East Point Lowe’s store while trying to prevent a car break-in, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The shooting happened about 2 p.m. Monday outside the hardware and home improvement store’s Camp Creek Marketplace location, which is off Commerce Drive.

Investigators told Channel 2 that two men were inside their pickup truck when they spotted people trying to break into cars in the parking lot. That’s when gunfire erupted, the news station reported.

Police said the suspects fired at the people in the truck. The victims fired back, officials said.

The suspects fled before police arrived, Channel 2 reported.

One of the victims, who was bleeding, went into the store to get help after the shooting. That caused the store to close, and he was treated inside, Channel 2 reported. One of the victims is stable, but the other is in critical condition.
