The social media threats that caused two schools in Griffin to be evacuated Tuesday were made by a student, investigators said.
Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix told Channel 2 Action News that two threats were made on Instagram.
Administrators evacuated Rehoboth Road Middle School and Spalding High School.
One of the threats, sent as a private message, said: “Yeah yall snitched im gonna blow you up,” the news station reported.

The school district said officials swept the schools with explosive-detecting dogs.
The high school got the all-clear about 11:15 a.m. after officials found no credible threat. Officials deemed the middle school safe just before noon.
As the students went back into the school, another message came through on the Instagram account, Dix told Channel 2. The second one contended that since students were back in class, bombs would go off.
Dix said the person who sent the threat was using the Instagram account of another student.
“At the time these messages went out, that student was actually standing with a teacher and didn’t have their cellphone with them,” Dix said. “The student’s cellphone was actually locked in the principal’s office.”
Parents at both schools were notified of the situation by robocall, school district spokeswoman Kimberly Willis Green said.
“Everyone remained safe during this incident,” district officials said in a Facebook post. “GSCS takes all threats of this nature very seriously.”
No arrests have been made in the case, but investigators said the person who made the threats could face felony charges, Channel 2 reported.
