Two siblings, 5 and 11, struck by car in DeKalb County

A young girl and her little brother were taken to the hospital after being struck by a car Friday afternoon near Stone Mountain, authorities said.

This afternoon, DKPD investigated an accident involving two siblings, ages 5 &11, who were struck by a vehicle as they crossed S. Hairston Rd. & Mainstreet Park Dr. (1/2)

Crews were dispatched to the scene just before 2 p.m. after receiving calls about the crash near the intersection of South Hairston Road and Mainstreet Park Drive, DeKalb fire spokesman Capt. Dion Bentley said.

The children, who are 5-year-old and 11-year-old siblings, were struck by the vehicle as they crossed the street. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, DeKalb police said in a tweet.

The driver of the car was not charged.
