Boy, 4, dies after being run over in driveway

A 4-year-old boy died Wednesday night after being run over by his grandfather, the Douglas County coroner said.

Messiah Huiel was hit in the driveway of his family’s Douglasville home, on Thompson Street, after running behind the car as his grandfather backed out shortly after 8 p.m., Randy Daniel told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Messiah was transported to WellStar Douglas hospital, but did not survive.

“It was purely a tragic, tragic accident,” Daniel said. “I just pray for that grandfather and that family tonight.”
