Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on Wednesday announced a plan to add 20 miles of protected lanes to city streets to accommodate cyclists and electric scooter riders.
Bottoms had promised a new plan to help better integrate scooters into the city's transportation system while the City Council holds town hall meetings and debates new regulations.
Three people have died in scooter accidents on Atlanta streets since May, and a fourth person was killed just outside the city limits in East Point.
According to a press release, Bottoms’ $5 million plan will add protected lanes to 22 city corridors.
