Police are searching for a man and woman they say are responsible for shooting and killing a 65-year-old Gwinnett man before stealing his car in southeast Atlanta Wednesday afternoon.

The victim was sitting in his gray 2016 Honda Accord with a coworker on Carey Drive when the duo walked up and demanded at gunpoint that they get out of the car, Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. John Chafee said in a statement.

The coworker got out and ran away, police said. While she was running, she heard three shots and the victim was shot in the chest, police said.

“The male victim was then pushed out of the vehicle and the suspects left in the victim’s car,” Chafee said.

After police arrived, they took the man to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office on Thursday identified him as Victor Green of Duluth.

Late Wednesday night, the Honda was spotted nearly 15 miles away in south Fulton County, Channel 2 Action News reported. Fairburn police found the car abandoned in a residential area on Mallory Road.

The man police are searching for was described as 5-foot-7, clean shaven with a thin build and short hair. He appeared to be in his early 20s and had a fanny pack he used to hold the gun. He was also wearing a black jacket and dark pants.

The woman is about 5-foot-5 with a thin build, wearing leggings, a black beanie and a shirt that says “PINK,” police said.

The shooting scene is less than half a mile from the KIPP Vision Primary elementary school.
