Savannah firefighters continue battling massive blaze that began Thursday afternoon
A fire that broke out early Thursday afternoon continued to burn overnight, and Savannah firefighters were still working to extinguish the blaze at a major new commercial and residential development.
As of Friday morning, the Savannah Fire Department said crews were still on scene working to put out the fire at a construction site for the new Eastern Wharf apartment and office complex. However, the department said the fire was contained overnight.
Multiple ladder trucks and fire hoses were deployed to fight the fire, and a fire boat was put into service late Thursday afternoon to battle the blaze from the Savannah River.
