Authorities have revealed what caused the death of a Florida 14-year-old who had been missing for almost two weeks.

On Wednesday, the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jacksonville determined that Sergio Domingo Diego died as a result of an accidental drowning.

“Please remember his family and friends in prayer,” the office said in a statement.

Sergio’s body was found June 4 near Jennings, Florida. The child had been reported missing June 3. He was last seen May 31 on Oak Street in Jennings, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said in a news release.

“It is with sadness that we confirm the child has been found deceased,” the statement read.
