Floyd Mayweather, who won Olympic bronze in the 1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympics and then became one of boxing’s all-time greats, announced on social media he is coming out of retirement next year.

Mayweather, 42, has a professional record of 50-0. He last came out of retirement in 2017 to fight in a hugely publicized bout with UFC star Conor McGregor, an MMA fighter.

In a previous post, Mayweather teased an announcement with the UFC and its president, Dana White:

Earlier in the week, however, Mayweather told Reuters he was officially done with boxing.

“I’ve got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth,” Mayweather said. “Boxing is a very, very brutal sport. In the last few years a lot of fighters have died inside that squared circle.”
