Just when metro Atlantans wondered if we’d ever see sunshine again, it’s finally in the forecast for Friday and the weekend.

The rain is expected to clear by Thursday evening, ending several days of gloomy skies, according to Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns.

“Lots of sunshine, I promise you that,” Burns said.

But it’s still going to be chilly Friday morning, when low temperatures will be around 30 degrees, Burns said. In north Georgia, the threat of black ice prompted the Chattooga County school system to delay Friday classes by two hours. Black ice is not expected in metro Atlanta.

Friday’s high temperature is expected to reach the low 50s before climbing to 55 degrees for Saturday’s high, Burns said. Highs Sunday will be in the low 50s after morning lows in the upper 30s.
