A busy Bartow County intersection is getting a traffic signal upgrade.

The Georgia Department of Transportation says the so-called Four-Section Flashing Yellow Arrow signal at U. S. 41 and Mac Johnson Road should help speed left turns. It’ll vertically display four left-turn arrows, including a flashing yellow allowing drivers to turn left after yielding to pedestrians and oncoming traffic. The DOT says studies show FYA signals help reduce left-turning vehicle crashes as much as 35 percent.

It’s expected to be operational by 9 a.m. Wednesday.
