If the thought of bacon takes you to a happy place, get ready for another level of bliss.
Tickets for the seventh annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival go on sale at 12:12 p.m. on Dec. 12. The event, set for Feb. 1, 2014 is expected to sell out quickly. The 2013 festival sold out in less than four minutes, according to the Des Moines Register.
Georgians will have to travel a bit to get there. It’s being held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines.
The 2014 theme, “Viva Las Bacon: What happens at baconfest …,” is not only a tribute to Vegas, but to a famous bacon-loving musician who reigned for seven years in the popular Nevada city.
“Vegas taught us that it’s okay to enjoy life’s guilty pleasures every now and then; and Elvis showed us that bacon goes particularly well with peanut butter and bananas,” said festival co-founder and chair Brooks Reynolds.
