A 9-month-old girl in Virginia was pronounced dead after being left unattended in a crib for 16 hours.
WJLA reports Avarice Alexander was in her crib from 8:30 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. the next day.
Prince William County police took Adam and Jasmyne Alexander into custody. Both parents are 21 years old.
Court records show they were charged on Thursday with child neglect.
Police allege the baby was left in her crib while her parents were drinking.
A GofundMe page was created by the mother, claiming her daughter died of SIDS. An aunt has since taken over the fundraising account, claiming the funds will be used so her niece can have a proper burial. The aunt says that the parents will have no access to any of the donations.
