An autopsy will be performed on a worker killed Tuesday morning in an accident at a plastics plant in Cartersville.
A 40-year-old man was cleaning a plastics mixing machine at Syncot Plastics on South Erwin Street around 7 a.m. when he got caught in a roller bar and was dragged through the machine, said Cartersville police spokesman Maj. Mark Camp.
The man, whose name was still being withheld pending notification of family members as of Tuesday afternoon, was dead when police officers arrived at the scene, Camp said.
Bartow County coroner Joel Guyton said the GBI will do the autopsy.
Company vice president Sharon Bing said OSHA had been called in and is conducting an investigation into the incident.
