The DeKalb County man killed in a weekend house fire was identified Monday as 71-year-old Robert Jefferson, the county’s medical examiner’s office said.

About 4:15 a.m. Saturday, DeKalb firefighters were called to a fire at Jefferson’s ranch-style home in the 3100 block of Cheru Court in south DeKalb, said Capt. Eric Jackson, spokesman for the fire department.

“They found the house fully involved with fire,” Jackson said.

Jefferson, who was the only person in the house, died in the blaze. The fire was believed to be accidental in nature.

Funeral arrangements were pending for Jefferson, according to Donald Trimble Mortuary.
