A 38-year-old Douglasville man died after a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 in Douglas County on Sunday afternoon.

Just before 3:15 p.m., a Dodge Durango heading east overturned near mile marker 42. The crash killed Corey Lashone Hart, while seven others in the vehicle were taken to two metro area hospitals, Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday.

Three passengers were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital by air: 52-year-old Michele Evette Jones, 52-year-old Robert Lindley and Tonya Holt, whose age was not listed. Gary James Arnold, 58, and 55-year-old Marilyn Latrell Arnold were taken to Grady by ground transport.

Two children, 12-year-old Dajdree Holt and 11-year-old Jouvante Mayfield, were taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston by ground transport.

All eight victims are from Douglasville.

The driver, Marilyn Latrell Arnold, told authorities that the crash occurred after the vehicle began to shake, causing her to lose control, Watson said. When she over-corrected, the vehicle rotated and began to barrel roll. It came to rest upright in the middle lane.

The crash remains under investigation by the GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
