A man in a rusty, red pickup truck attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl Tuesday night in Gwinnett County by mentioning a lost puppy, according to police. But the girl was able to run away from the man, who then left the area.

The attempted abduction happened around 6:30 p.m. on Meadow Trace Drive, near U.S. 78 and Cooper Road, Snellville police said.

The suspect was a clean-shaven white male wearing a black hoodie pulled tight around his face, and is believed to be in his 30s, according to police. The man, who was driving an older, full-sized truck with some rust, spoke with a Midwestern accent, police said.

The girl was unable to provide a tag number or direction of travel. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Snellville police at 770-985-3555.
