Fulton County schools will be closed on Friday, authorities announced late Thursday.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Fulton County and the metro Atlanta area from 1 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are possible.

“The National Weather Service models are very mixed at the moment. However, given the risk associated with ice, the timing of a potential event, and the impact it may have on traffic on a late Friday afternoon rush hour, we erred on the side of safety,” Fulton schools said.

All 235- and 220-day employees should report at their usual time. Employees may be sent home early depending on the forecast.
