Atlanta police investigators discovered narcotics and guns in two separate incidents they believe are connected to a "major drug smuggling operation,” authorities said.

On Oct. 6, members of the Atlanta Proactive Enforcement and Interdiction Unit investigated a home in the 1700 block of Lanier Drive, where animal control officers said they saw a suspicious substance. Investigators said they found methamphetamine and marijuana inside the house, along with materials and tools used to manufacture illegal drugs.

No one was inside the house and investigators are working to locate those involved, police spokesman Sgt. John Chafee said.

On the same day, investigators cited five people for possession of marijuana, as well as seized weapons and drugs, at a house in the 2500 block of Macon Drive in southwest Atlanta, according to Chafee. He said they confiscated cocaine, marijuana, oxycodone pills, promethazine and two handguns during the raid.

Those cited were Jon Anthony, 31; Cameron Sims, 22; Javaree Irby, 26; Ricky Martin, 57; and Horace Manson, 32. All five are from Atlanta.

Investigators are still searching for several others who lived in the house but fled when they saw officers, Chafee said.
