Atlanta police confirmed an officer killed a pedestrian Friday night when he hit him with a patrol car, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The incident happened shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Metropolitan Parkway near Fair Street in southwest Atlanta.

Sgt. Greg Lyon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he didn’t have “any details yet” but was on the way to the accident scene to confirm what happened.

Police later said they would release statement regarding the death Saturday.
