Atlanta police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found shot at the 3700 block of Adkins Road in northwest Atlanta near Fulton County Airport, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Police got a call about a man down in the middle of the street around 10 p.m. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The man was identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiners office as Donte Seymore, 27, of Atlanta.

Seymore had been shot in the torso and died while being taken to Grady Hospital by rescue personnel, police said.

Investigators recovered a handgun at the scene. Detectives haven’t determined if it’s the weapon that killed the man, or if it belonged to him, the station reported.

According to detectives, witnesses were not able to help identify the victim in this shooting.

Witnesses say they saw a silver four-door sedan driving away after the shooting.
