The campaign for Clayton County Commission candidate Alaina Reaves posted an endorsement video from Stacey Abrams on Tuesday.

Reaves is running against former Clayton County school board member Alieka Anderson in a runoff for the District 1 seat formerly held by Commissioner Sonna Singleton Gregory. Gregory died in late May after a long fight with ovarian cancer.

Reaves and Anderson received the most votes of 10 candidates in a special election in September, but neither received the more than 50% necessary to win the seat outright.

In the video, Abrams, who lost a narrow contest to be Georgia’s leader to Gov. Brian Kemp three years ago, described Reaves as a “smart, energetic young organizer” who can help Clayton County grow its economy. The Fair Fight Georgia founder also endorsed Reaves in late August ahead of the September special election.

“Leadership is not only about the next election, it’s also about the next generation,” Abrams said in Tuesday’s clip. “That’s why I’m endorsing Alaina Reaves for Clayton County Commissioner during the District 1 special election runoff on Tuesday, Oct. 19.”
