A suspect has been arrested after a 35-year-old Acworth man was found shot to death along a Kennesaw road on Thanksgiving morning, according to an arrest warrant obtained Monday.
Dain Mark Ryner, 34, is facing a murder charge after he allegedly shot Casey Plumb in the head and arm while he was in a vehicle at the intersection of Moon Station Road and Bayswater Drive, the warrant stated.
Shortly after 3 a.m., officers were sent to the area, located on the northern end of the city near Jiles Road, about a person lying in the road, a Kennesaw police spokesperson said. Plumb was found dead from several gunshot wounds, officials said.
According to the warrant, Ryner, of Dallas, Georgia, fired several shots into the car. Plumb died after being shot in the head, police said.
On Saturday, Ryner was booked into the Cobb County jail on charges of murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, online records show. He is being held without bond.
“Our department would like to thank the Cobb County Police Department and Paulding County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance during this investigation,” the spokesperson added.
A GoFundMe page, which was created by Plumb’s brother to help with funeral expenses, had raised more than $2,900 as of Monday afternoon.
Officials have not shared if the suspect and victim knew each other before the killing. In the fundraising page, Plumb’s brother said the family doesn’t know any details at this point.
