History buffs will have the chance to tour a home built more than 200 years ago that played a significant role in the early days of Gwinnett County.

The 42nd annual Elisha Winn Fair, hosted by Gwinnett Historical Society, will take place 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to touring the Winn house, guests will be able to hear live music from The Skillet Lickers and watch militia reenactments.

Food and craft vendors will be on-site. Guests will be able to view demonstrations of various 19th century activities, including blacksmithing, weaving, spinning and butter churning. The fair costs $3 per person, but children 12 and under get free admission.

The Winn house, located at 908 Dacula Road, was built around 1812 shortly before the creation of Gwinnett County. Elisha Winn, who purchased the property in 1809 with Roger and Elijah Pugh, served as an inferior court judge, state senator and state representative.

Gwinnett County used the property for several of its first functions, including court sessions, elections and as a site for its first jail.
