Don’t let the spring weather on Wednesday fool you. The weather roller coaster is still running as the relatively warm temperatures Thursday are expected to dip back into the freezing zone — at least briefly — on Friday.

The forecast predicts a high of 65 and a low of 34 degrees on Thursday but on Friday the high of 45 and a low of 30, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Then Saturday is suppose to see a jump back to 60 during the day and for a low to hover around 33, the news station reported. Sunday and Monday should be more consistent with 59 and 57 highs and 35 and 41 lows.

But that is not all. Northern metro Atlanta counties may get a dose of freezing rain Thursday.

The National Weather Service issued a special statement Wednesday warning that a mixture of sleet and light freezing rain is possible Thursday morning and into the afternoon for areas along and north of a line from Cedartown to Canton to Cleveland. Bartow and Cherokee counties in metro Atlanta are in that area of concern.

“Sleet amounts up to a quarter-inch and freezing rain amounts up to one-tenth of an inch appear possible,” the Weather Service said. “Locally higher amounts cannot be ruled out.”

The Weather Service said temperatures in northwest Georgia will be falling throughout the day Thursday, “so any slick spots that develop on roadways may continue to be a concern into the evening as well.”

Atlanta’s normal high for the first week of March is 61, and the normal low is 41.
