The state worker arrested Saturday on drug charges is out of the Clayton County jail on a $25,000 bond, according to jail records.
Ericka Reeshema Thompson, an economic support specialist for the Division of Family and Children Services in Henry County, was charged with cocaine possession, marijuana possession and driving under the influence after her arrest Saturday in Jonesboro, authorities said.
According to jail records, Thompson was released from the jail just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Thompson, 38, was stopped for an expired tag and the officer “smelled the odor of marijuana,” police said.
When the officer searched her car, small amounts of cocaine and marijuana was found.
She was transporting a mentally disabled man when she was stopped, police said. But DFACS officials said Thompson wasn’t carrying him in her car as a part of her job responsibilities.
It remains unclear how Thompson was related to the man, but police said he was taken back to his group home.
DFACS spokeswoman Ashley Fielding said the agency will review the accusations against Thompson and “determine the appropriate response once it has had an opportunity to fully understand the facts.”
