Troup County sheriff's deputies have made an arrest in the Sunday morning stabbing of a man found dead at his home.

Deputies who went to the home in the 3100 block of Hammett Road about 5 a.m. Sunday on a missing person call found the body of 39-year-old Jerry Lee Folds on the property, Troup sheriff’s Sgt. Stewart Smith said.

Smith said that during the investigation, Christoper Scott Rice, 20, of LaGrange, became a person of interest.

“Investigators were able to interview him and during these interviews, Rice did confess to the murder of Jerry Folds,” Smith said in an email Sunday night. “It does appear at this time that the victim was stabbed numerous times by Rice.”

Smith said Rice is being held in the Troup County Jail. Investigators have not said what led to the stabbing.

Troup County is about an hour southwest of Atlanta.
