The man accused of shooting and killing a Riverdale father of two was arrested Tuesday afternoon, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office said.

Deangelo Sanchez Knott, 25, was charged with murder for allegedly shooting Edward Allen Buford in the head early Saturday, according to police. Buford, 24, was killed in the parking lot of the Villages on the River Apartments, located in the 6000 block of Church Street, where both he and Knott lived, address records showed.

The sheriff’s office fugitive unit arrested Knott in Riverdale late Tuesday afternoon. At the Clayton County jail, Knott was also charged with crossing the guard line with either drugs or a weapon, booking records showed. He was being held without bond Tuesday night.

Police told Channel 2 Action News the shooting may have been drug-related.

At the time of Knott’s arrest, a second fugitive was also arrested in an unrelated case, Sheriff Victor Hill said. Patrick Cleveland, 23, was charged with burglary and booked into jail. His bond had not been set late Tuesday.
