Police charged an 18-year-old Forest Park man on Friday with stabbing an elderly man as he was walking in William Lee Park in Clayton County earlier in the week.

Forest Park police said Devontae Jamar Douglas is now in the Clayton County Jail.

It was not immediately known if a tip led to Douglas’ arrest.

The elderly man, whose name was not released, is recovering at a hospital from his non-life-threatening injuries, a single stab wound to his stomach.

According to the Forest Park police, Douglas ran away when a good Samaritan driving to work Wednesday morning saw the attack and pulled into the park. The injured man said Douglas came from behind him and knocked him to the ground. According to the victim, Douglas never spoke and he took nothing.
