No serious injuries were reported when an overturned tractor-tractor ignited on I-285 late Monday morning. But the wreck made an hours-long mess of traffic.

All eastbound lanes of I-285 were blocked for about four hours on the southeast quadrant of the Perimeter. The wreck, which happened near the Bouldercrest Road exit in DeKalb County, also shut down all but one westbound lane, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation website.

A second westbound lane was reopened after noon Monday, but it was nearly 3 p.m. before the eastbound lanes re-opened.

It took DeKalb firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the burning truck, which was carrying 30,000 pounds of auto parts. The flames were doused by 11:50 a.m., and a crane was brought to the scene just before 1 p.m. to begin removing the burned-out trailer.

DeKalb police Capt. S.R. Fore told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that a passenger vehicle was also involved in the crash, but no serious injuries were reported.

Eastbound traffic at one point was backed up to near I-75, while westbound traffic was jammed back to I-20.
