A Monte Carlo driver tried to flee the scene of an accident Friday and was killed by an oncoming pickup truck in Acworth, Police Chief Wayne Dennard told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Monte Carlo driver was traveling north on Lake Acworth Drive from Cobb Parkway when the vehicle struck a Toyota Sequoia near the Lake Acworth Dam, police said.
“The Monte Carlo sped around the initial incident scene at a high rate of speed and lost control near the intersection of Adams Circle,” Dennard said in an email. “The Monte Carlo turned broadside to oncoming traffic and was T-boned on the passenger side” by a Toyota Tundra.
The chief noted three people were transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. One, the Tundra driver, is in critical condition, said Officer Youlanda Leverette, spokeswoman for the department.
Police aren’t releasing the names of the drivers until relatives are notified.
