Veteran soap actress Jennifer Bassey was removed from a Delta Air Lines subsidiary flight by authorities earlier this week after, she said, a flight attendant was repeatedly rude to her, setting off a fight.

A representative for Atlanta-based Delta confirmed that Bassey, who appeared on "All My Children" off and on for 28 years, was removed from a Tuesday flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

The flight was operated by subsidiary Endeavor Air, the rep said.

Bassey, 72, told E! News the conflict began after she boarded the flight, bound for Indianapolis.

She was returning from the restroom while the flight was delayed when, she said, an attendant "loudly" asked three times, "Ma'am, did you wash your hands?"

Bassey said she told the attendant she prefers to use hand sanitizer, but the attendant followed her to her seat, and again scolded Bassey when she took out her laptop.

Bassey said the attendant then backed into her hand and said, "Don't touch me!" To which Bassey said she responded with a profanity.

Bassey said she was then deemed a "risk to the carrier" and removed from her flight. She told E! News the situation was "undignified, embarrassing and beyond stressful."

Delta is investigating the incident, the rep said, and efforts continue to contact Bassey directly.

She was not arrested, according to TMZ.

Police had no immediate comment for E! News.
